The BackChamp - How it works, and an FAQ

How it works - The BackChamp®

Why is the the Backchamp® so effective against back pain?

By treating your pelvis at the foundation of your spine, you are treating a common root cause of back pain, and not just the symptoms!

What is pelvic misalignment?

The pelvis is the foundation of your spine and skeletal frame. It is notoriously unstable and prone to tilting or twisting so that it no longer sits in its natural, healthy and horizontal position. In fact the whole body is thrown out of kilter and one leg becomes longer than the other.

Why is this so important?

Misalignment puts enormous strain on the spine, nerve roots, muscles and specialised ligaments. With the pelvis at the base of the spine no longer horizontal, the spine twists and turns above it, in an attempt to maintain its healthy vertical position. In this state, nerves can become snagged, there is increased pressure on intervertebral discs and muscles can freeze up to protect themselves.

The result is often irritation, discomfort, tingling, burning or pain anywhere from the neck and shoulders, through the back and even the knees and ankles.

Symptoms of, and conditions exacerbated by, pelvic misalignment include:

  • Mild, moderate and severe lower back pain
  • Mild, moderate and severe upper back pain
  • Tingling or pain down one or both legs (sciatica)
  • Stiffness or pain in the neck
  • Painful knees and ankles
  • "Wear and tear" of the inter-vertebral discs
  • Herniated inter-vertebral discs
  • Persistent Headaches
  • Frozen Shoulder
  • "Pulled Back Muscles"
  • Lumbago
  • Piriformis Syndrome
  • Spinal Stenosis

What causes pelvic misalignment and instability?

There are a variety of factors that cause and / or exacerbate pelvic misalignment and instability.

These include: increasingly sedentary lifestyles, muscle imbalances, stress and anxiety, injuries (due to accidents, sport, bad posture, prolonged standing, sitting and lying etc.) and poor nutrition.

The Backchamp® corrects the pelvis whatever the cause of its underlying instability.

Have I Got A Misaligned Pelvis?

If you have back pain then it’s very likely you do. It is very commonplace. A dull ache or sharp pain in the lower back, for example, is one of the most common symptoms.

How Is It Diagnosed?

Pelvic misalignment is relatively easy to diagnose (and even self-diagnose) because, as the pelvis tilts or twists, one leg becomes marginally longer than the other - called 'leg length discrepancy'.

How Do I Treat It?

UNTIL NOW back pain resulting from pelvic misalignment has been treated in one of two ways. We'll deal with each in turn:

  • Insoles - It has been common practice to prescribe insoles (wedges inserted into the patients shoe) in an attempt to counteract the leg length discrepancy caused by pelvic misalignment. Unfortunately this treatment targets only the symptoms, the leg length discrepancy, and fails to address the cause of the problem - pelvic misalignment.
  • Back Pain Professionals - Visiting an experienced professional, like a qualified Chiropractor or Osteopath, is highly recommended. Many health professionals are aware of the crucial role that pelvic stability plays in back pain and overall skeletal health. Often they will be able to correct your pelvis relatively easily, using specialist manipulations. Unfortunately, once your pelvis has been corrected and realigned, you may find it all but impossible to maintain! This is because without intervention, your pelvis will invariably dislocate again, returning to its habitual misalignment - often within minutes or hours of finishing a treatment. This is why many back pain sufferers experience only temporary relief from otherwise excellent treatments.

Why do I need a Backchamp®?

The Backchamp® is the world’s first and only device that empowers you to re-align your pelvis wherever and whenever you want to quickly, safely and easily. This is also great news for health professionals who can concentrate fully on their area of expertise without having to return time and time again to the same fundamental problem. Buy the Backchamp now and you will have a lifelong and exceptionally powerful treatment for back pain at your disposal!

Backchamp FAQ

Who is behind the Backchamp®?

The Backchamp® was first developed by Alexander Barrie (MRSS, RCST) – a UK back pain specialist and expert on pelvic realignment.

Is the Backchamp® safe?

Using the Backchamp® as explained in the instructions is absolutely safe because it works with the body’s natural movement and not against it.

When should I NOT use the Backchamp®?

Unless specifically recommended by your specialist doctor as part of a closely supervised course of treatment, the Backchamp® is unsuitable for you if you suffer from any of the following:

Spinal tumor (on bone or brainstem), spinal infection or fracture; osteoarthritis causing outgrowths (spurs) on vertebrae (exostosis); advanced osteoporosis; spondylolisthesis (the slipping forward of a vertebra over the one below it); kidney infection; intrapelvic mass (polyps, tumours).

If in any doubt, please always consult your doctor or qualified medical advisor.

I am pregnant. Can I use the Backchamp®?

Yes, with care. In our experience it is fine to continue or begin pelvic correction with the Backchamp® during pregnancy provided you are sensible with its application and avoid straining. The best way to do this is to 'listen' to your body. Using the Backchamp® is a natural movement and pelvic alignment will benefit you during and after pregnancy. However, if you are pregnant, we recommend that you seek advice from your doctor before embarking on any kind of treatment.

I have had back pain for years and tried dozens of different treatments. I can’t believe that something so simple and affordable will really work!

If you relate to the above statement and are feeling a little sceptical, then that’s fine. It’s right to approach any product with a healthy degree of scepticism. All that we ask is that you don’t fall into the trap of thinking that because the Backchamp® is so simple and affordable, it won’t work.

Many of our greatest success stories involve people who have suffered chronic back pain for years and have tried everything. The principles that underpin the Backchamp® are simple, but the results often profound. So try it.

Can I use the Backchamp® while having other treatments or therapies?

Absolutely. Maintaining a healthy and aligned pelvis will serve to maximise the benefits you will receive from other treatments, as well as empowering you in between sessions. We are proud of the fact that the Backchamp® complements all approaches to treating back pain.

Can you guarantee that the Backchamp® will cure my back problem?

No. The very individual nature of back problems means that no treatment - ours included - can guarantee you a successful outcome. Happily the Backchamp® has a very high success rate because it treats the root cause of most back pain – pelvic misalignment – and not just the symptoms.
