The single largest advancement in the Mosquito Magnet technology took place in the configuration of the cord-free Liberty system. The new Liberty Plus has a thermal generator which gives consumers the added convenience of a mosquito trap placement free of the restraints of electrical sockets.
The Liberty Plus functions on the same patented technology as the other Mosquito Magnet products: the propane gas is converted to CO2, and then the CO2 is dispersed through the added attractant. This draws in mosquitos and biting midges, and they are then vacuumed into the catch trays in the system where they dry out and die without chemicals or pesticides.

Day-to-day running for effective mosquito and midge control
Gas connections are now available for UK, ROI, EU Countries and Norway. We recommend using propane for its outstanding performance and clean burning qualities, but butane will work as well. A standard 20lb tank will power the magnet for around 20-25 days. We recommend cleaning the midge trap's system internally with the compressed CO2 every third tank and at the start of each season, as well as before winter storage. This simple Quick-Clear maintenance procedure prevents the carburetor from clogging with propane residue. One 3 pack (not supplied with machine) should be enough for one season, depending on the gas quality.
Mosquito Magnet Liberty Plus Peripherals
We recommend a midge trap cover for protection of the mosquito trap during off-season when in storage.
One net is included with the midge trap. Since no chemicals or poisons are used for killing the biting insects (they are trapped only) a vast number of midges, mosquitoes and other bugs might be trapped and stay alive. For this reason our customers often prefer to have an extra net so the full one doesn't have to be emptied when some bugs are still alive and might escape. Just leave them out in the sun for a day or two and they will dehydrate while the other net is catching the next thousand(s)!
Octenol is an optional (but highly recommended) additional attractant which improves the efficiency of the unit. Midges and mosquitoes just can't resist octenol so you will trap more bugs quicker and get rid of them sooner when using this additional attractant
Why the Mosquito Magnet Liberty Plus works so well
The burning of the propane gas results in the emission of carbon dioxide. This, coupled with the attractant, Octenol, are the key elements that attracts biting insects to the Liberty Plus trap's vacuum. Depending on the model, either the mains, or the thermal generator, provide the electricity that runs the fans of the vacuum to suck the midges and mosquitoes into the net where they are trapped.
The battery pack requires a one-off 24 hour charge before being installed outside. The NIMH battery pack helps the thermoelectric module in powering the electronic one-touch ignition.
